Q: How long after you start the green pills do you get your period on alesse 28?
Im on my first pack of alesse 28 and took my first green pill today. When should i expect my period?

A: I'm a monday start so when I take mine I usually get my period on wednesday night or thursday morning. I take my pills at night too.

Q: What do i do if i run out of pills before i get my period? Alesse 28?
I'm on alesse 28, its my first month and i have two pink pills left before i go on the green period pills but i won't get my period for like 4 or 5 more days..what do i do?

A: keep taking your pills as prescribed. it takes a few packs to get it on a normal cycle.

Q: what do i do if i get my period before my pills have run out? alesse 28?
i just started alesse 28 this month, and i have 5 pink pills left before i start the green period pills, but i think i'll probably get my period tonight or tomorrow. what do i do? do i just start a new package?

A: Nope. Continue to take the pills as designed. If your period starts early, contact your doctor and ask them for some info....but the pills should keep that from happening. It could be first-time jitters and your body is adjusting to the new pills.

Q: How can I control my breakthrough bleeding on alesse-28?
I am in my second week of pills and have been having breakthrough bleeding for about 5 days. I read that if you take advil or Ibeprofen that it slows down the flow. I am in desparate need. What should I do?

A: You can also try eating iron rich foods like spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course) to see if that is of some help. However, I would recommend seeing your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they say.

Q: what do i do if i run out of alesse 28 pills before i get my period?
Its my first month and i have ran out of pink pills and im on my first sugar pill, but i don't have my period yet..do i just keep taking the sugar pills and wait for it?

A: Yes you just keep taking the white pills and wait. I recently switched birth control and it took 2 days of white pills and then I got my period, it actually hit very suddenly and painfully lol. Damn cramps. Just take the pills everyday as directed and let your body work it out.

Q: How do i take alesse 28?
I started my first day of my period today, and the instructions are so complicated. Do i start the first pink pill today? AHH someone explain it simply for me please!

A: Yes--start with the first pink pill today. You will then take one pink pill per day, at approximately the same time each day. When you run out of pink pills (after 21 days of taking them), you'll have a week of green pills. The green pills are "inactive"--basically, that means they contain no medicine, no hormones, nothing. They're there to help you to get into the habit of taking one pill each day. You don't *have* to take them, since they have no effect--just be sure to mark on the calendar when to start taking your next month of pink pills, if you elect to not take the green pills. Then, just repeat these instructions every 28 days!

Q: If Alesse 28 made me break out in hives, would Yasmin possibly give me the same results?
Day 3 of taking Alesse 28 birth control pills; I broke out in hives all over my back, then it would migrate on my stomach. It stated this could happen on the leaflet, but is rare. Unfortunately, it happened to me. My dr. now gave me Yasmin. But I'm pretty "iffy" about starting them. Anyone else had this problem? (It's like a sign, for me to be allergic to birth control AND even alcohol! Can you believe that?!)

A: I'm prone to hives alot, and while taking Yasmin, i didnt get any hives from it. BUT the hormones in it, made my whole body ack, and my breasts were so sore, it hurt to even touch them

Q: Will Alesse 28 help to clear up my skin?
I don't have full-blown acne, just mild to moderate acne. When I say acne, I mean I break out right around the time of my period.. one or two pimples. However, those pimples overstay their welcome and by the time it's that time of the month again, I've got the existing pimples and NEW ones. So, will Alesse help clear my skin? Please offer some information of your experience with this pill and provide me with some pros and cons! Thanks :o)

A: I've taken Alesse for about 5 years to help control abnormally heavy periods. Not only did it give me lighter periods, it had the pleasant side effect of making my mild acne disappear. There are potential side effects (such as weight gain or loss), and you should talk to your doctor to make the best decision for you, but it definitely has the potential to help clear up your skin.

Q: Who has/is taking Alesse 28 Birth control pills? i need to be advised by women who knows about BC PILLS .?
I start them this month .. This will be my first time on any bc pill . i am a little bit afraid of how they will react to my body .

A: Try doing a search of the actual name of the pill - this should give you some ood results. I do it everytime my Dr gives me medication. Good luck

Q: Alesse 28 first time on the pill ; dr said to start the sunday AFTER my period starts?
So let me get this start after my period starts .. even if its THAT sunday . i take that first pill of the pack THAT very sunday? not after...

A: Last answer is definitely wrong. You take the pill the Sunday after your period STARTS because that is technically the beginning of your cycle. If your period starts on a Sunday, take the first pill that Sunday. If your periods starts on any other day, take the first pill on the next Sunday.

Q: im on alesse 28. would i still be proctected during the week of taking the nonactive pills(placebos)?

A: Yes. Birth control pills, when taken as directed, protect you every day, at every time of day. I know it may seem strange, since it's just this little pill, but it's true.

Q: can i have sex while i'll taking the placebo pills in my alesse 28 birth control pack?
the pack has 21 birth control pills, and 7 placebo pills (the placebos don't do anything, but keep you in a habit of taking a pill each day). The way it works is, you're supposed to get your period around the 22nd day (when you start taking the placebos). i've had sex the past three days i've been on the placebos. technically speaking, shouldn't i not be protected right now? doesn't it make sense that because i haven't been taking birth control pills for a couples day, that i could get pregnant? i've only been on birth control for 24 days and before i was on alesse, i had never been on birth control before please help!

A: You are protected on your sugar pills. There is a different dose of hormones each week in the pill. In mine it goes from high dose to lower doses. So once the hormone level drops you menstruate, but it's not real menstruation because there is no dead egg. But anyway. It might be that your birth control is too strong for you. I didn't get my period on Microgestin and it scared me! So I would go back to the doctor and get another pill.

Q: Is Alesse 28 (generic) Birth Control the same as Microgestin FE 1/20?
I am currently in Germany and i need one more pack of my Alesse 28 birth contol and i had asked my aunt to send it to me and instead she sent me Microgestin FE 1/20 and said it's the "generic" brand of Alesse 28 and it's the same thing is this true?

A: Hi- I used Alesse 28 and I just refilled the prescription. The pharmacy told me they are no longer making the name brand Alesse 28 and gave me generic. She did verify that the side effects are minor and the ingredients are the same. My generic is called AVAINE and the pills are on a rectangular punch out thing. The regular pills are bright orange and the placebo (period) are light green. Good luck! I talked to my doctor today and he told me it should be a smooth transition to the generic.

Q: i'm on alesse 28. I had sex wed night and I started my first placebo pill the next day. Am I still protected?
I won't be starting a new pack cuz my bf is leaving town in a few days so I'm just finishing the placebo pills(5 more pills). I'm just paranoid if i'm fully protected for the days we will be having sex during the nonactive pills. help!!!

A: Yes, if you took every pill all month on time, you are protected during the placebo pills too.

Q: alesse-28..does anyone take this?
I have been on the Yaz birth control for the past two months. My dr. just gave me the generic brand "Alesse-28" to start taking today. Does anyone have any side effects with this; weight gain, bloating, constipation? Thank you.

A: If your doctor gave you Alesse instead of Yaz he is crazy. Yaz has no generic, as it is still new enough that the manufacturer still has patent rights to it. Please call you doc and find out is this is a mistake or if he is really switching you to another pill. Actually it is easy to see the Alesse and Yaz are not the same drug by looking at the chemical names of the drugs they contain. Alesse is ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel. Yaz is drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol.
